Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 – Hanoi / Ha Giang → Nam Dam
Travelers using the operator’s transport from Hanoi are normally picked up at approximately 6:00–6:15 AM and transferred to Ha Giang.
If you are already staying in Ha Giang, the guide normally meets you at your hotel at approximately 9:00 AM before taking you to the operator’s base.
Safety Briefing & Riding Preparation
Before the mountain journey begins, the team carries out safety procedures, provides equipment and explains traffic conditions in Vietnam.
Guests who plan to ride themselves take part in basic riding practice around Ha Giang before departure.
The purpose of this preparation is to make sure riders are comfortable before entering the mountain roads.
Lunch & Departure
Lunch is normally served at approximately 12:30 PM, followed by the final tour briefing.
The group then leaves Ha Giang and begins the journey toward Nam Dam Village.
Mountain Valleys & Lung Khuy
Travel through remote valleys and villages with stops along the way for photography, sightseeing and rest.
One of the highlights of the afternoon is the area around Lung Khuy Cave, where the operator includes a sunset viewpoint before continuing to the overnight accommodation.
Nam Dam Village
Finish the first day in Nam Dam, a mountain village known for its Dao community.
Stay overnight in a local Dao homestay and enjoy dinner in the village.
The setting offers a quieter introduction to the Ha Giang highlands before the journey moves deeper into the mountains.
Day 2 – Nam Dam → Lung Tam → Yen Minh → Dong Van / Lung Cu / Nho Que Region
After breakfast at the homestay, prepare for another full day in the mountains.
Lung Tam Traditional Weaving Village
Visit Lung Tam, a village known for its traditional production of hemp linen.
Here you can see different stages of the textile-making process and learn how local craftspeople turn hemp into fabric using methods passed through generations.
The operator also describes an opportunity to try part of the cloth-working process yourself.
It looks simple — but requires considerably more balance and strength than many visitors expect.
Yen Minh
Cross the mountains and continue toward Yen Minh, where the group stops for lunch.
The journey then turns north toward some of the most remote parts of Vietnam.
The Road Toward the Chinese Border
Continue along an approximately 50 km stretch toward the Vietnam–China border, described by the operator as one of its guests’ favorite parts of the route.
The landscape becomes increasingly dramatic and remote as the journey approaches Vietnam’s far north.
H’Mong King’s Palace
Stop at the historic residence commonly known as the H’Mong King’s Palace.
The visit offers an insight into the history, wealth and influence of one of the region’s most important H’Mong families.
Vietnam’s Extreme North
Continue toward the Extreme North Point near Lung Cu.
On clear days, the landscape may offer views toward towns on the Chinese side of the border.
Mountain or Riverside Overnight
The second night is spent either at a homestay near the river or a mountain campsite, depending on the final arrangement.
The operator describes the evening as a chance to relax with a drink during golden hour before dinner.
For guests of legal drinking age, dinner may include a small serving of local “happy water.”
Day 3 – Ma Pi Leng → Tu San → Meo Vac → Mau Due → Du Gia
After breakfast, continue toward one of the most famous landscapes in northern Vietnam.
Ma Pi Leng Pass
Travel toward Ma Pi Leng Pass, widely regarded as one of the most spectacular mountain roads in Vietnam.
This itinerary does not simply drive through the area.
It includes an approximately 4 km hike, giving you more time to experience the cliffs, valleys and panoramic mountain scenery.
Tu San Abyss Alley
Continue toward Tu San Abyss Alley, surrounded by steep limestone formations.
The operator includes a cruise through the canyon area before the group continues toward Meo Vac.
Lunch in Meo Vac
Stop in Meo Vac for lunch before continuing deeper into the eastern mountains.
Mau Due & the “Road of Children”
On the way toward Du Gia, stop for coffee around Mau Due, which the operator refers to as the beginning of the “road of children.”
This part of the route passes through remote minority communities where families live and work among the rocky highland landscape.
Du Gia Village
Finish the day in Du Gia, one of the most peaceful areas of the loop.
Weather permitting, there may be time for a swim at a hidden waterfall before settling into the village for the evening.
Spend the third night in Du Gia.
Day 4 – Du Gia → Ha Giang → Optional Hanoi Transfer
The final morning is intentionally more relaxed.
Enjoy the mountain scenery around Du Gia, photograph village life or take another swim near the waterfall if conditions allow.
After a farewell lunch, begin the final journey back toward Ha Giang.
Expected arrival in Ha Giang is approximately 3:00 PM, followed by hotel drop-off.
Optional Return to Hanoi
Guests using the operator’s onward transfer normally reach central Hanoi at approximately 9:30 PM.
Airport drop-off is approximately 9:00 PM, with a dinner stop around 7:00 PM during the journey.
Transfer pricing and arrangements should be confirmed after booking.
Sunday Highland Market
Sunday is an important market day for ethnic minority communities throughout the Ha Giang highlands.
These weekly markets are not simply places to buy and sell goods. They also function as major social gatherings for mountain communities.
The operator particularly recommends timing the itinerary so that travelers can experience the Dong Van Sunday market when possible.
The operator also notes that certain Friday departures may allow time for a Sunday market visit.
Market inclusion depends on dates and the final itinerary and therefore cannot be guaranteed.
Who Is This Tour For?
This experience is best suited to travelers who:

• Are interested in local communities and traditional culture
• Are comfortable with long, active days
• Want to combine riding with hiking and local experiences
• Are comfortable with simple mountain accommodation / homestays
• Prefer a small-group experience

Riding & Safety Information
This section is important.
The operator specifically warns that riding a motorbike in Ha Giang without relevant experience is dangerous.
Travelers choosing a self-riding option should already be experienced riders and should ensure that their driving documentation is legally valid for Vietnam.
If the guide determines that riding conditions, experience or safety are unsuitable, alternative arrangements may be recommended.
For travelers who do not want to ride themselves, the Passenger with Local Guide option provides the mountain experience without requiring you to operate the motorbike.
Flexible Itinerary
Mountain travel in Ha Giang is affected by:
• Weather

The guide may therefore change the order of stops or adjust individual parts of the route when necessary.
