Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 – Ha Giang → Yen Minh – Approximately 105 km
Begin your journey in Ha Giang City and head north into the mountains.
The first day introduces you to the dramatic scenery of the Ha Giang Loop while combining panoramic viewpoints, limestone landscapes, cave exploration and local culture.
Bac Sum Slope
Leave Ha Giang and begin climbing through Bac Sum Slope, where the road starts winding into the northern highlands.
The scenery quickly changes from the provincial city into steep mountains, deep valleys and remote rural communities.
Quan Ba Heaven’s Gate
Continue to Quan Ba Heaven’s Gate, one of the classic viewpoints of the region.
Quan Ba is regarded as one of the gateways to the limestone landscape of the Dong Van Karst Plateau, with wide views across the surrounding peaks and valleys.
Quan Ba Twin Mountains
Travel onward toward the distinctive Twin Mountains, one of the recognizable natural landmarks of Quan Ba.
The rounded peaks form a striking contrast with the rugged limestone mountains surrounding them.
Lung Khuy Cave
Continue to Lung Khuy Cave, adding an underground limestone experience to the mountain journey.
Rather than spending the entire day on the road, this stop gives you a chance to explore another side of Ha Giang’s geology.
Lung Tam Weaving Village
Visit Lung Tam, known for traditional weaving and textile production.
The village gives travelers a closer look at local craft traditions and highland community life before continuing deeper into the mountains.
Yen Minh
Finish the first day in Yen Minh, surrounded by forested hills and mountain roads.
Check into your accommodation and spend the night in town.
Overnight: Yen Minh
The supplier specifically lists Day 1 as Ha Giang → Yen Minh, approximately 105 km, including Bac Sum, Quan Ba Heaven’s Gate, Twin Mountains, Lung Khuy Cave and Lung Tam.
Day 2 – Yen Minh → Lung Cu → Ma Pi Leng → Meo Vac – Approximately 110 km
After breakfast, continue into the far north of Vietnam.
This is one of the strongest days of the itinerary, combining high mountain roads, historic sites and the border region around Lung Cu.
Tham Ma Pass
Travel through Tham Ma Pass, one of the winding mountain roads associated with the northern Ha Giang route.
The sharp curves and highland setting make this an ideal place to appreciate the dramatic terrain of the region.
Lung Cu Flag Tower
Continue toward Lung Cu, close to Vietnam’s northern border.
The Lung Cu Flag Tower is one of the most symbolic landmarks in the far north, with panoramic views across the surrounding border landscape.
Vietnam Tourism specifically highlights Lung Cu as a major stop in Ha Giang and notes the sweeping views from the flag-tower area.
H’Mong King’s Palace
Continue to the historic H’Mong King’s Palace, also known as the Vuong Family Residence.
The residence is one of Ha Giang’s most important cultural landmarks and offers insight into the history of an influential H’Mong family.
Vietnam Tourism notes that the wooden palace dates to the early 20th century and reflects traditional architectural influences.
Ma Pi Leng Pass
Continue toward Ma Pi Leng Pass, one of the defining experiences of the Ha Giang Loop.
The road runs high above deep valleys and the Nho Que River, creating some of the most dramatic views in northern Vietnam.
Vietnam Tourism describes Ma Pi Leng as the “jewel” of the Ha Giang journey.
Nho Que River
The route continues through the Nho Que River area.
The river winds below the limestone mountains and forms one of the most recognizable landscapes of the region.
Meo Vac
Finish the day in Meo Vac, surrounded by the high mountains of eastern Ha Giang.
Check into your accommodation and spend the night.
Overnight: Meo Vac
The supplier lists Day 2 as Yen Minh → Meo Vac, approximately 110 km, via Tham Ma Pass, Lung Cu Flag Tower, H’Mong King’s Palace, Ma Pi Leng Pass and the Nho Que River.
Day 3 – Meo Vac → Du Gia – Approximately 100 km
After breakfast, leave Meo Vac and continue toward the greener and quieter landscapes around Du Gia.
This day has a different character from the rocky northern plateau, with rural communities, winding slopes, streams and valley scenery.
H’Mong Café
Begin the journey with a stop at H’Mong Café before continuing into the mountains.
M-Shaped Slope
Continue through the distinctive M-shaped slope, named for the recognizable form created by the road as it winds through the hills.
It is another memorable example of the mountain engineering that defines the Ha Giang Loop.
Ban An Stream
Travel through the Ban An Stream area, adding a quieter natural stop to the day’s mountain-road journey.
The itinerary then continues toward Du Gia.
Du Gia Village
Arrive in Du Gia, one of the most relaxed and scenic areas on the wider Ha Giang Loop.
Du Gia is surrounded by green valleys, mountain communities and natural scenery, offering a very different atmosphere from Dong Van and Meo Vac.
Vietnam Tourism highlights Du Gia for its lush valley setting and waterfall landscape, particularly as a refreshing stop during warmer months.
Spend the night in Du Gia and enjoy the slower pace of the village.
Overnight: Du Gia
The supplier lists Day 3 as Meo Vac → Du Gia, approximately 100 km, including H’Mong Café, the M-shaped slope and Ban An Stream.
Day 4 – Du Gia → Duong Thuong → Mau Due → Thai An → Thuan Hoa → Ha Giang – Approximately 100 km
After breakfast, begin the final journey back toward Ha Giang.
The last day takes a different route through quieter rural areas rather than simply retracing the roads from the beginning of the tour.
Duong Thuong
Leave Du Gia and travel through Duong Thuong, surrounded by mountain scenery and scattered rural communities.
Mau Due
Continue through Mau Due, another highland area characterized by winding roads, valleys and traditional villages.
Thai An & Thuan Hoa
The final sections of the route pass through Thai An and Thuan Hoa before gradually descending toward Ha Giang City.
These quieter roads give you one final look at the rural side of the province before finishing the loop.
Return to Ha Giang City at the end of the journey.
The supplier lists the final day as approximately 100 km from Du Gia through Duong Thuong, Mau Due, Thai An and Thuan Hoa before returning to Ha Giang.
